The first question that comes to me here is: HOW CAN WE HELP AID A TRANSITION FROM THE PRESENT ECONOMIC SYSTEM THAT ENCOURAGES SEPERATION TO A NEW SYSTEM THAT BRINGS UNITY?

I am based in Oxford England…..I’m really excited to see what might come out of our dialogue here on the Community Forum. I think people will find the conversations in the videos very stimulating and inspiring.

That does make a lot of sense Annabel . You might be interested in the discussion feed ” “Sacred Economics for a Sacred Earth” which goes deeper into this issue.

Yes, quite Annabel, the conundrum of the human condition!! I agree I want to lead a spiritually connected life but as you have no “desire!” to be an ascetic. The way I look at it though is that on the spiritual journey we need to have as light as possible backpack of attachments to allow us to progress. Also for me part of that journey is trying to make a positive difference.

A very warm welcome Carole. Yes this can sometimes be a really tough journey ( I was in a psychiatric ward for a period 5 years ago) but the rewards as we come through the crisis can be great. So good to hear that your true self is emerging. By the way, what a beautiful part of England to live in…one of my favourite areas.

Hi Annabel, very good to have you here. Yes I have heard about the fantastic work that has come out of Stroud. The Ecoside Campaign is inspirational ….and it really seems to be making progress. It shows, along with XR, that the grassroots can really challenge the system and make a positive difference.

Thank you for your comments Catherine. I was given a leaflet at the Climate March in Oxford yesterday that talks about the need for a society of common ownership and the democratic control of the means of production and distribution of the wealth. So the change has to be very much a political as well as an economic one. It would seem to be essential to move away from capitalism which is by its very nature a dynamic system that has to continue to grow and it is hard to see being compatible with tacking the Crisis that humanity has created.

Hi Anja, I would like to mirror Mick’s comments, and thank you so much for your input to the Forum here.
Personally I do not think that in individual transformation that everyone has to go through the dark night to, as you say, see the sacred light. I think it depends perhaps on our background, and that generally the more trauma that someone experiences the more challenging the journey is likely to be. As far as the Dark Night of the Globe is concerned I do believe there is very much hope, but that this is not going to be an easy journey

Rewilding I think is a fascinating concept as it is both an internal and external journey. Physically being in Nature is very healing……think also the re-wilding journey is internal and includes challenging so much of our conditioning that has made us consumers and led us to treating Nature as something external to us to be exploited rather than something we are integrally part of. I think these internal and external journeys are equally essential parts of Birthing the New Earth
